New York Salsa
Delille Thomas' Summer Salsa Bash
August 27, 1999

The Summer 1999 Mambo Bash was on the night after the August full moon..

Delille Thomas, mambo dancer, teacher, and choreographer, has given a salsa party each season (Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter) since December of 1997. This Summer's party was filled with about 300 of New York's mambo and salsa dancers. The music was great. The dancers were inspired. And, Delille and his partner Glenda gave a demonstration of Pachanga and Mambo that was awesome.

Delille's Mambo Bash was the best Mambo event of the season, turning out New York's finest (dancers - not the Cops). The wooden dance floor is spacious and of good quality. There was relatively little smoking. With most of the restaurant's tables pushed more closely together to make room for additional dance space combined with an excellent sound system the place had the feel of a quality dance club. There was a high percentage of New York style "On 2" dancers. All of these above mentioned it was premiere dance event of the 1999 Summer season. If you can, don't miss Delille's dance events in the future.

A very touching moment of the evening was the announcement of the engagement of Addie Diaz and Manny Siverio. It also was the opportunity to celebrate Addie's birthday (although this fact was not announced). Addie Diaz, the creator and living incarnation of "Addie-Tude", received her traditional "birthday dance" and took on the best of New York's Mambo dancers (including Manny). She has the finest women's Mambo styling on the New York dance circuit and to use an old "Palladium" term nobody can "cut" her on the dance floor. Unfortunately photographs will never do her "moves" and "interjections" justice.

The Summer Salsa Bash was presented by Delille Thomas and New York Accents Ltd. Productions. DJ Jeff played non-stop Mambo and Cha-Cha-Cha.

The photographs on this page were taken at the party. They are given here in reduced size (by popular demand) to speed up the internet download time of the page. If you want full resolution copies or if you want to use these photographs please e-mail fotos@justsalsa.com for permission. .
