At Parlour Cafe, mbra production did two parties where DJ Elvira played her unique style of Pure Salsa. The guest list was long for the first party. The second party was given as a benefit for the flood victim is Venezuela, Elvira's native land. Little-to-nothing was consumed at the bar, but the dancing on the floor was spectacular. The first party was held on December 17, 1999. It was before Christmas and people still talked about the now extinct Y2K bug. The energy was high, and the party was attended by many of New York's best Mambo and Salsa dancers. The second party, a benefit for Venezuela, was held on January 8, 2000. The event was highly attended as well. A third mBra/Pure Salsa party was scheduled to be held on January 15, at the Parlour Cafe but, at the last minute, it was moved to the Exchange Club.
