Bistro Latino - Mambo into the Millennium - Thursdays

On Thursdays - Bistro Latino is "On-2" New York Style. Bistro Latino is located on the corner of
54th Street and Broadway near where the Palladium once stood. New York's best dancers, and social dancers,
mingle with the crowd of diners that are attracted by the fine and varied menu of food offered by the
restaurant's chef. I have had dinner here and I can tell you the food is great. There is also fine music at
Bistro Latino. On this night The Bronx horns played - reputed musicians, some of which play with
Tito Puente in his performance band.
I had been at Bistro the Thursday night before
(8/26/99) to shoot the place and to shoot photographs of the qualifications for
Hustle USA competion.
I had heard that it would be held on this night (9/2/99) but again it was canceled. It turned out
to be a celebration of Iris Cruz's Birthday. Iris is the Hostess of "Mambo Into The Millenium".
When I asked her how old she was She said she is "30 something".
During the course of the night's dancing I saw Iris dance with just about everybody,
including a few dances where she danced the man's part. I also saw her dance sharing a woman
with a man while dancing the man's part. Also I saw a man dancing the woman's part.
Bistro Latino on Thursday is a great place to find a partner do dance on-2 with. It is
also a fun place to eat. The bartenders will "serve-you-up" a real "mean" mojito or an ice cold
Presidente (Beer). (Wow.. that just made me thirsty).
