The
West Coast Salsa Congress held a Welcome Party at the
Mayan nightclub in
Los Angeles on
May 24, 2001. There were performances by local area dance groups including Edie the "Salsa Freak" and Al "Liquid Silver".
Many of the
visiting dance groups including
Liz Paredes,
Caribbean Soul
and,
Felipe Polanco,
were in-the-house mixing with the locals.
New York's own
DJ Elvira
"la diva de los DJs y la reina de la clave"was spinning
Pure Salsa for part of the night. The place is incredible, the decor,
the ghosts, the bouncers are the best, all of it.
